Has the pump been tried on a Corvette yet? Any odd clearance issues there?
We've taken some measurement off of my Vette and it's going to be very close on where the belt rides on the WP idler. If it's a problem they already have a shorter sytle pump ready to go. We'll know shortly as soon as they send us a pump to try on the Vette.

Hey, don't forget about us truck guys. One of you down there has to have a GM truck to check measurement on.

What is the average life span of an electric water pump?
The LS1 uses a HD motor and I believe they are rated for 2400+ hours and the seals are rated for 10,000 hours. If you drove your cars for an average of 3 hours per day, which is probably very high then the pump motor would last 2-3 years. According to Meziere most of thier original pump are still running after 6 years.

I'll have one on my daily driver.

Didn't actually think about the trucks but will take a look tomorrow when we have another pump here.

Yeah, I think most of the truck guys are used to it.

Thanks

Sup yall, its my car that they installed the street pump on.

I've been driving my car like mad in traffic and on the interstate yesterday and today. Coolant Temps vary between 170-182 ( verified with scanmaster not the POS stock gauge ) in hot as hell south LA. I feel this pump is great for a daily driver, which mine is. It uses the stock idler pulley and the same size belt.

Plus you can leave it running with the engine off to cool the motor faster between races.

Justin, have you noticed any SOTP increases? Not as accurate as a dyno of course, but does the car seem to rev faster at all? Just curious if this mod is actually noticeable at all.....

Any thoughts on using one of these electric water pumps with the battery relocated in the rear of the car?

I am afraid it may not get enough voltage??

I have had one of their electric WP's on my LT1 for ~3 years now without issue - I just recently replaced it proactively (though they offer rebuilds @ 100 bucks also).

As long as your alternator is working properly you shouldn't have any voltage related issues.

The meziere pump has a dummy idler hub built on it so the belt routing remains unchanged from the stock configuration.

Can we get it without the dummy idler hub? I just want to turn the alternator and air conditioning compressor. Manual rack here.

It'll probably be easy enough to take off if you don't want to use it.

This sounds like a really cool thing...

Now here is my concern...What about us desert dwellers?? Its always anywhere from 100-110 deg. here, and it does get much cooler at night. Especially with the sun beating down on everything every day.

What about having one tested on a S/C LS1 that is out in the destert heat??

Sure it's called the "race pump". The idler also acts as a cooling fan for the electric motor which will help with longevity.

Why did you guys not do a before and after dyno test to see how much power you pick up by not powering the pump with a belt or did you? Just curious to see the results I have done testing myself on the LT1 pump and you see quite a bit of hp freed up by the pump.
