Default comp 224/224 581/581 cam?

i have this cam with a set of heads that are milled down .030 and i have 2.055 intake valves. i did a ptv check and i only have .015 of clearance. has anybody else done a ptv check and got similar results? i even put the stock head back on and i only had .075 clearance. let me know if anybody has any advice. thanks alot. and yes it is lined up dot to dot.

That clearance seems likley with stock pistons and an advanced cam. I've seen a number of guys use the Isky valve notching tool to add clearance. There are other creative ways that the pistons could be notched........the notches only need to be about .060" deep. I would recommend against machining the valves deeper into the heads. Of course, since your notching the pistons, maybe a 230º cam would make it worth the work.
Good luck with the project,

Did the cam get ground with 4 degrees of advance?
Is it on a 112 l/S?

I too used 2.055 valves ..but my heads when i used that cam were ground down .060.

I had ZERO clearance problems... and revved it over 7k many times.

You might want to review your valve / piston clearance checking procedure. When I recently checked mine while doing heads & cam I found checking these is trickie with hydraulic lifters.
The lifter can hold the open by not compressing the lifter to the run mode and give false valve lift numbers (when starting the motor up there will be cylinders that hold valves open creating a miss for first minute or two of running until the adjust them selves). Heavy springs can also compress lifter as to not lift valve to true lift. Probably best is to use soft checking springs and make sure rocker is adjusted to .000 clearance as to have no preload on lifter and soft springs should not compress lifter. The best for checking would be a solid roller lifter. If a person did many of these he should make up a pair of solid roller lifters out of stock ones and this should eleiminate all problems a hydraulic lifter can cause checking valve to piston clearance.
