Default I wanna go .030 over but have a few questions first

Hey guys i'm new here kinda... i joined the site back in august but really havent had time to get into it and start posting and i hate to start off with one like this.. i blew the motor in my car over the weekend and i was thinking about just getting a stock replacement but then realized it wouldnt be any fun soo i wanna go .030 over and throw a nice set of rods and pistons in the bottom end so that it can handle the power and beating of racing it.. looking to do a MS4 cam in the future.. but heres my question ive heard that in order to bore an aluminum block over you have to have it bored and re-sleved is this true or can you bore the already exsisting one .030 over? any heap would be greatly sppreciated thanks guys

You can have plenty of fun in a stock cubed car. If you're hell bent on big cubes you might as well go with a 402 or bigger. It all depends what your end goal is for the car.

you can hone them out to a 3.910 bore but going any bigger without sleeving it i don't think is a good idea.if you are set in wanting more cubes but not going the 402/408 route you could find a used 6.0/364 shortblock to fit under what you have but a good forged 347/348 is capable of plenty of power.

3.898", boring it bigger for more cubes really isn't the way to go.

line bore the block to the minimum dimension possible.
or go to the wreckers and get an iron truck block with 4-4.1/8in bore.
