I have a 99 Z28, 6 speed with all the stock internals. The only mods I have are bolt-ons. Would you buy a cam or long tube headers first?

Save and do them both at the same time. You will get better performance with the 2 together. Just my .02

I sort of hate it when you post a "which one" thread and the answer you get back is "do both", however, in this case I really have to agree.

If I was certain that my next single mod would be either the cam or headers, I would go ahead and buy one, shelf it, then save a month or two for the other. I would definitely want to install those mods together.

Also, make sure it's a cam that's going to run well without tuning, otherwise you've got another $400 to budget, and that's another month or 2. The good news is, by then there will be snow on the ground and you'll have plenty of time for your tear down! lol
