Default Cam Recommendations

What cam would make the most power mid-top range with a stock head/block. MAX RPM 6300-6400

Must also work with N20 and clear stock piston to valve clearance.

Bolt in cam, springs and push rods with no other modification.

Minimal tuning required.

Car has all the bolt ons and tube header dual 3" exhaust using 150 shot.

M6 4.56 gears will be running a 30" tire.

No cam can go without tuning...almost any mild to moderate cam will work with stock heads and have not PTV issues. Tuning is the key to maxing any mod.

Sorry I meant work with the stock computer. Getting a tune on the chassis dyno isn't a big deal.

Just haven't used much LS1 stuff, all my old setups were carburated, so never had to worry about computer compatibility.

Was looking at:

Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft
"TR 224-112" - 224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA 1700-6600 RPM Power Band.

Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft
"Split Pattern" - 224/227 .563/.569 114 LSA For nitrous and supercharger applications. 2200-6800 RPM Power Band.

Goals are Low 11's on a 150 shot.

Running a big tire because I like big tires. 315 60 15 isn't that big, I ran a 33x16.5 on my pro street car.

Budget would be for cam, spring kit and pushrods.

This is my fun car, I am just building it up over time, chassis wise it's a full blown drag style chassis.

I just want to make it a little more fun until I bite the bullet and start my turbo motor build up.

Not sure on cars weight, last time I weighed it was 3150, but since then i have removed the bumpers and mini tubbed it and pulled the power steering and redoing the carpet with light weight stuff.

I know I have taken out 100 pounds since then with the stuff I weighed.

The original F14 232/234 .598''/.598'' 112lsa+4 makes good power also .

The original F14 232/234 .598''/.598'' 112lsa+4

Will this clear PTV on a stock motor / head 98 LS1?

Both will clear with room to spare as its only a 232/234@.050 duration .

Here another one with the F14 112lsa , stock 317 71.5cc heads , Fast 90 , Homebuilt D1-sc Procharger kit 13psi , Yank ss 4,000 stall , 3.73 gears https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-racing-results/745228-stock-bottom-end-stock-4l60e-10-42-a.html

.646 lift will clear? Wow I didn't know they have that much PTV clearance stock.

What do you know about the T-ReX v.2 - 242/248 - .608/.612 - 110 lsa Cam?

Peak lift is not a concern when talking p/v clearance , in example the Trex is on the ragged edge with 242/248 @.050 in a non flycutt piston . Its the duration and icl / ecl that matters . In a 360 degree rotation the Trex holds the valves open a longer period of time compared to the 232/234 @.050 F14 . Also the overlap period of which the exhuast valve is closing and the intake valve is opening at the same time is more with the Trex .

Trex is a great performer but needs the corresponding boltons in the car to complement it . Its a high rpm cam .
