Re: is anyone in this forum making 500+hp A/M?
Once again here we go. I DID mean all motor.
Secondly, I DID mean rwhp.
Third, the 32v head is hearsay, but there is a guy who makes them, and according to his website, and they produce crazy flow numbers. Check it out yourselves (www.araoengineering.com)
Fourth, the reason I was asking b/c I haven't heard of it myself until now. But now that I have, I personally think its something worth looking in to, for all I know it could be a bogus idea to get that kind of flow and that kind of HP from a head but, I think we could all benefit from more HP.
If every new idea in building new and better engines were shot down before it came into being we wouldn't have the kick *** motors we have today. So, if a few hopeful people in search of a faster car and more horsepower get on this guy's *** to see some LS1 applications, we might end up with new **** for the LS1 that exceeds what choices we have at the present time. Thats all. Cheers

I edited the titel.
Maybe 10 folks have made 500rwhp on motor.
I'm not one of them, I made 475rwhp on motor with a iron block 422ci.

Thanks for the numbers John. What are your thoughts on a 32v head for the LS1? Is it worth looking into?
Ive called the guy today so i hope i can get some info from him so that i can post it here by this evening.

I haven't seen any 346ci cars pull over 480 rwhp with a solid roller. I think 500 rwhp is possible with a properly built intake, super high compression ratio, and a huge solid roller. Not something you would cruise around in though.
My 434ci pulled 525 rwhp, pushing a 12-bolt with 4.10s, heavy steel driveshaft, and on 18" wheels. That engine in a stock chassis could have been a real dyno queen, maybe 545+ rwhp?

From what i understand from the web site the unique valve gear arrangement
"allows the engine to rev over 9000rpm without expensive valvetrain parts or crazy spring loads, also the squish band comes in from all corners, accelerating the air towards the spark plug. Making it the fastest burn, least prone to detonation of any combustion chamber possible."
In supercharged, turbocharged or nitrous applications, this also means more forced induction can be used with less chance of detonation. Also even though there is more exhaust valve area with the two exhaust valves, it is accomplished with a smaller valve. These smaller valves are less likely to glow red and pre-ignite the mixture in severe duty applications. the flow advantage it has all the way up to full lift and all the way down after full lift. This is when the cylinder is getting more fully charged on the intake stroke and more fully excavated when on the exhaust stroke. For example, at only .050” valve lift the 4 valve head is already flowing 50% more air than the 2 valve head at the same lift. Also camshafts can be run that have a wider lobe separation and less duration for the same application. The wider lobe separation purges less intake charge straight out the exhaust when at low speed. This less purging makes for more low end torque, less emissions, and less fuel consumption. Also camshafts with approximately 10 degrees less duration for the same application can be used. This still makes much more overall power than the 2 valve heads, but has the same RPM characteristics where the peaks occur." <--All from their web site. Dont kill the messenger.

Dont C5R heads flow around 400cfm?
Whats the point of a 4v 400cfm head?

Guess I am one of those ten, and with the stock crank, non-LS6 heads and a streetable hydraulic roller...

There was a company called Dominion that came out with that 32v head several years ago. They were in the neighborhood of $3200. I haven't heard anything about them in a while.

Don't ya kinda need an intake manifold that will keep up with the heads first? Seems like there is some work going on with aftermarket intakes, but nothing has came to market that I'm aware of.
