like someone else said, once the water pump is off, run a shop vac through the water passages, try and get as much of the water out, trust us, cleaning the bolt holes is a bitch, another thing to do so that u dont have to spend so much time cleanin the headbolt holes is to leave about 5 threads on the block on each head bolt, and then pull up on the head, some coolant should drip down. but since u have the bolts in not that much will go into the threads. then do the shop vac thing again, then pull the head. once the heads are off, take a long straw tape it to ur shop vac and get as much water out the holes as possible, then blow them out with a compressor.

other things to think about:
poly engine mounts, underdrive pulley, ls2 chain, ported oil pump, arp headstuds, LS7 lifters, install the spark plugs when u have the heads out.

things to watch out for:
oil pressure sending unit in the back driverside of the block(alot of people break them, ask me how i kno), when u go to start the car have the heater on so that there is no air in the cooling system, change the oil after a couple hundred miles, and heat cycle the springs(idle-4k the first day). also depending on the springs, u have to wait till u get to operating temps b4 u beat on ur car from now on. stiffer springs tend to b more brittle when cold.
good luck, and TAKE YOUR TIME.....and have fun
