Its going to be a very tight fit in there, especially if the pistons have no valve relief in them or the valves are not sunk into the heads at all.

Thats all fine and dandy if you already have the $100+ degree wheel or plan on buying one anyway.

The whole degree kit is under 140. Since the least amount of clearance isn't at TDC (I think it's a few degrees after), it's best to get a degree wheel and do it right.

You will get the same result regardless of what method you use. The least clearance will be at within a few degrees either way of TDC and is measured either of the 3 ways. Using a degree wheel is no more accurate than the others.

Just mark your pulley with a protractor and make a pointer from a bent coat hanger or something.
