Default Absolute Speed 5.3's.....

Anybody know the general specs on these cnc'd heads? I know of a set that quote on quote flowed 312 on a conservative bench, and wana know the cc's and combustion chambers specs. If anybody has these or has ran them, let me know your results.
Thanks Sam

I have the 862 castings. Valves are 2.02 and 1.57, combustion chamber 66cc, Intake runner~ 240cc. Can't remember what I cc'd the exhaust at. Jay was one of the best head porters around, but a lousy businessman. He hurt a bunch of people.

The AS 5.3 heads were the first head to give the 5.3 castings a name. I believe they were 2.02/1.57 and flowed great on the intake and ok on the exhaust.
If my memory is correct I had a set that went 302 on a local pretty stengy bench/295 on thunder's bench with somewhat poor exhaust number's. It was 237cc's, and milled to 58. The head's however with a 230-234 and a fast 90/90 made over 460 about 3.5 years ago, just after Comp released the Fast products, and was one of the highest NA 5.3 cars I have seen even still today.
Jay was good and had a shop in NJ that did the CNC work and he hand finished the product, but Jay was also a bad business man, and still owes me money along with many other's.
Carma will get him one day, maybe he will catch his hand in a machine or something. (sorry over 3,000 dollars gone and I am still bitter)
I would say that as long as he has been gone if you have those heads, or your buying them, check the springs, and maybe even do a refresh job completly. The heads have got to be at least 2 years old or older.

My 5.3's flowed 313 and 227 at .600. I replaced the Rev valves with Ferrea. Jay used to take static over hogging out the runners so much but he always pointed out that Lingenfelter did the same thing. I've got these heads on my HKE 408 that I recently finished.

I have one of the last sets I guess he did. I am pleased with them. I had them on my 408 last year and the car made 484rwhp. I have since had them refreshed and another valve job done. The valve size is 2.055/ 160 and they flowed over 320 at 600. They are now on my new 408 and I'm waiting to get the car dynoed. When the heads were flowed the engine builder was shocked that they heads flowed so well. I was too!!!!!!!

Did you have the big valves in when you did the 484? I don't think the original valve seats will handle those big valves.I did 473/465 with no Fast and a 9" rear, Dennys Nitrous steel DS, MT Dr's, and 1 3/4 Jet Hots.

Yeah thoses were the valves that where in the heads when I got them. They were measured by the shop to confirm the size and everything.

Well the heads came with some other stuff i bought for my car. they arent assembled but have brand new springs, tit retainers, seats, valves etc,. Dont know if ill ever sell them but do you have any idea what they would be worth? Thanks guys, i just wanted to get some numbers before i use them, cause i didnt much about them. And i had heard that the cyl. head porter had quote on quote " Did alot of people wrong", so i wanted to see how the performance of the heads were as the business they came from didnt perform well
