Default Rear Main

Im puttin in a new rear main right now and need to know if the seal needs to be flush with the front of the cover (Trans Side) or the rear? The old seal was flush with both. Any help is appriciated. Thanks!

Yes, simple if you've done it before. I just don't want to get it on and it leak. There is horror story after horror story on here of changing rear mains. The old seal was flush with the front and it was also fully seated. For the new seal to be fully seated it will not be flush with the front. If i could see a picture i would understand.
