Default Oil problems....

ok, heres the deal. i have a 99 ls1 z28 cam and nitrous only. the car has 120k on it and has been driven pretty hard. the car has always burned oil, but lately its been burning quite a bit. when i start the car grey smoke comes out the pipes. i have no cats, but that shouldnt matter there. is this a sign of bad rings? also, lately my oil pressure has been lower than it used to be. around 43-45 WOT, and below 40 at idle. if i spray to like 80mph and let off, the oil pressure goes WAAAY down to the mark before 40. im guessing the pump is going bad, its the original one. i think there are couple of problems, bad rings, and a bad pump, but what do you guys think?

45 at WOT is dangerously low. Sounds like the pump may be going bad. As for the burning of the oil, I would start with the PCV valve since that is common for it to allow oil into the intake. You should also do a compression test to check the condition of the piston rings.

I am running 5w30. i was thinking that psi was too low as well, especially when it falls way down after a spray for whatever reason. are there other reasons for having low oil pressure than the pump, say, a shitty engine?

yeah the motors bearing could be shot and on the verge of complete failure.
