I got a motor out of a 98 Trans AM off of Ebay, that I swapped into an older Camaro. The motor was supposed to have 15,000 miles. Ever since I got it started there has been a ticking noise coming from the passanger side of the motor. I've been looking around on the boards and see most of the ticking noises go away at Idle where mine stays there. It doesnt matter if its hot or cold. Ticking goes up and down with the RPM's. What should I be looking for?
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Possibly a bad lifter. Rocker not properly installed. Pull the valve cover and check all the rockers and springs. Make sure all the rockers are torqued to 22 ft-lbs. If that all checks out ok, my guess would be a lifter. Is the ticking very loud??

Its not ungodly loud, but its noticable from a distance away from the car. When you torque the rockers do the valves have to be closed? Or can you just torque them where ever they are? Also another question, Do the stock valve springs have orange paint stripes on them?

Valves don't need to be closed, I'd loosen them then re-torque. GM painted the springs a variety of colors, they could have been anything.
