Default 7.5" pushrod in a stock motor

Tried a search and only found info on shorter than stock pushrods. One drunken night i ordered some new pushords since my stock ones were fine . But it wasnt till they got here i realized that they were 7.5" and not 7.4". I was just gonna resell them and get some 7.4" but a buddie says that the 7.5" will work fine, it will just give it a little more preload and quiet it down a bit. Its a stock motor for now, but possibly a cam going in depending on how this speeding ticket goes . Question is am i right for not wanting to put the longer pushrods in or is he for saying it will be fine?

I believe stock is actually 7.385" and the preload is in the vicinity of 0.100". Using those pushrods in a stock setup will bottom the lifter. Don't use them.

Too long for stock cam and rockers. Those would be good with an aftermarket cam and some Yella Terra Ultralight rockers (with the .050" shim installed).

definitely too long on a stock motor. you don't want to have to replace the lifters man

Why do you want new pushrods on a stock motor?

With stock rockers, usualy 7.450 depending on the base circle measurement of the cam
