finished puttting my motor back together last night after the cam swap so i started it everything sounded good just a little ticking noise from the intake nothing i havnt heard before so i didnt think nothing of it so i left it alone. so just a hour ago i go to start it for the second time and it starts perfect but when i go for a test drive around the block i start to hear another noise but this one is loud. any ideas of what it could be?

well, be more specific. a sharp metallic sound, or a deep knocking sound?...does it change with RPM?

 

did u change the oil pump?

 

it was a back fire in the intake do to a loose rocker arm the exhuast vavle wasnt opening so it was coming out of the intake but i fixed the problem.

 

I have a hollow sounding knock from my intake. What would that be? I just recently took my PR's out to change my springs due to 2 snapped valve springs. Im thinking its a lifter or just the proverbial sewing machine noise.

 

mine was more like a LOUD back fire from the intake but you might want to recheck your rocker arms to make sure none of them came loose.
