Question Ls2 swap?

How hard would it be to put a ls2 in my 2002 Trans am. And will anything from the ls1 be compatible with the ls2 block? For example will my afr 225 heads work on it?
Thx,
John

The LS1 block will accept the same heads as a LS2 block. What is different is that some LS2 had 24 or 58 tooth Reluctor wheels. If you want to Keep your PCM, you need to find a 24 tooth block/Crank or swap out the 58 for a 24 tooth wheel on the Crank.

Engin sensors swapped over from your old LS1..

Lets say that one is starting from scratch and building it by himself. If I want to stroke I must buy a crank that is for ls1 and not ls2 hence one that has a 24 tooth reluctor wheel?

I am also looking at swapping my ls1 out of a 2000 camaro ss. I want to put in a stroker Ls2. Planning on buying heads but will all the bolt ons and sensors off of the camaro fit onto the ls2 block. will the oil pan, double roller timing chAIN, pulley, water pump, all accesseries, intake, bolts, headers knock sensors. Is there anything that I should be looking to buy when I buy my Ls2 block. Planning on using everything off of the 2000 camaro Ls1

I am not a expert on building a Gen III / IV.... but have learned a lot in doing my swap and researching.

No.. you can put a 58 or a 24 tooth wheel on either a GEN III or IV engine. Some earlier Gen IV had 24 tooth wheels. I think if you check the GM catalog, there will be create engines with both.

Both GEN III and IV block should accept most if not all accessories (Pan, sensors, water pump, front accessories, etc).
