Help rocker/lifter bearing problem?
So heres the deal. About a year and a half ago I had a rocker arm spit out its bearings which I found attached to the drain plug. I replaced them with low mileage used ones intending on getting mine rebuilt by harlan or whatever the name of the company is that rebuilds them stronger. So I never got around to doing that....oops.
Well today I was changing the oil and guess what I found 4 bearings attached to the drain plug agian. So I thought damnit, another rocker arm. I pulled the rocker arms and inspected each one closely, looking at both the inner and outer bearing seals. To my amazement they all appear to be in excelent shape. That really poses a problem. The only other place I know of bearings like that to come from would be the lifters. That sucks because if that is the case the heads have to come off.
My questions to everyone are: Does anyone have pics of any trashed stock lifters/rocker bearings sitting side by side to compare?
How possible would it be to have some left over bearings just now have worked their way to the drain plug? Is this wishfull thinking?
The car sounded fine with no abnormal noise. If a lifter was going out shouldnt it have been making a terrible ticking noise at least?
Thanks for reading I know it was a little long winded

My first thought was the same as your wishful thinking idea. But the problem is how many times have you changed you oil since the last rocker arm failure. I cant imagine a lifter failure without a noticable noise or issue. JMO.
X3, the lifter bearings are also much smaller so if the bearings look the same as last time then leftovers make a lot more sense.
