Starting a new build...
Curious as to what everyone is using...
T2Y?...ARP bolts?...ARP studs?...
Did a search...lots of threads...lots of opinions...
thought I'd just do a poll instead...

I say studs, I didn't vote because as long as its a stud your golden. 12pt v. hex all comes down to how often you plan to pull the heads.

ARP Head Studs with Hex Nuts here. Not that I even plan on pulling the heads, but cleaning out the bolts holes sucked. The clamping force is a little higher with the studs too.

I used ARP bolts just because I thought it would be a little tight doing the studs in the car. I know others have done it without a problem.

I didnt think having 12pt or 6pt mattered as far as clamping force, I think that is just personal choice.
but I vote studs

ARP all the way. but depending on engine combo and horsepower output, that's when decision would be made to use bolts or studs.

I am building a forged LS1 to replace the stock 5.3L and keep the ProCharger set-up as well...

I'll be running the studs, probably the 625 material. My engine is in as many pieces as it could be right now. I always thought 6 vs 12 point was preference. What's the advantage to one making them easier to remove than the other? Is it just the greater contact area using a 12 point socket on a 12 point nut?

12-point spreads the force placed on the nut more than a 6-point. You are less likely to break something(probably the socket before an ARP nut).

Plus 12-points are prettier
