Default Swapped INjectors... No start?

Ok guys..

Well I just recently got my PCM back from Wait4Me.. I went to try and start the car and it would try and start and then die.. I couldn't get it to idle but it was turning over and firing..

Then I remembered that I had asked Jesse to program for 42lb injectors.. So, I swapped out my old injectors to the newer 42# injectors thinking that may be the issue..

Now I've swapped out the injectors, the fuel rail is getting fuel, but the car will not fire at all..

I've checked all the connections that I can see, everything is connected...

I checked the injectors, by letting one of them sit out of the intake and turning the car over, it was indeed "injecting?"

The only thing that has changed in the last hour are the injectors, now the car acts like it's not getting any fuel?? It will hit once every couple of tries, but that's it..

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Jeff

If the injectors really are injecting than you need to check your spark. Something else must be wrong if you are sure getting fuel.

Yeh.. I'm reallying thinking it's gotta be the tune..

The car would turn over and fire before the tune.. It just didn't run that well...

Send the PCM..
Get the PCM back..

I sent W4M a list of the mods I have done..

I got the PCM back today and plugged it in..

Tried to start it with the new PCM and it fired, wouldn't idle, but it was firing and backfiring like a CHAMP.. I then remembered that I had not installed the 42# Injectors..

So, I pulled the fuel rail, stuck the 42#ers in there and now it'll fire once in about 10 tries and it only fires once and then nothing...

So.. it's either the injectors or the tune..

I checked one injector and it was squirting fuel...

Push on the gas pedal a little and see if it will start that way. Either way the tune is crappy by the way this sounds.

Yeh all of that is fine..

This is the sequence of events..

- Finish cam/head swap.. Fire it up.. It idles - not well, but idles for the first 10 minutes or so.. Drive it around.. It drives, not well, but still drove. I started getting misfires, which I was told was normal for the heads/cam swap..

- Remove PCM send it to Wait4Me..
- Receive PCM back from Wait4Me, put it back in the car.. Fire it up.. It never runs or really starts, it hits a few times with pretty hardcore backfires.. I did this maybe three time.. Realize part of the tune from Wait4Me was supposed to be witht he 42lb injectors..

- Remove fuel rail and stock injectors.. Replace with 42lb injectors..

- Put key in ignition and attempt to start..

- Nada... It is acting like it is getting zero fuel..

Ok, so I say "Hmm.. Bad injectors?" so I pull the front injector out and turn the ignition to see if the injector is "injecting." It is..

So, this leads me to think it's a timing issue of some sort.. The car is firing when the fuel is not compressed maybe?

The only thing that has changed since the car "ran" was a PCM tune and new injectors..

Everything is plugged up.. No lose ends, nada..

Me thinks it's the tune...

Just a thought but it is possible you may have fouled the plugs. If it were me. Double check all your connections (grounds, and connections at the PCM), check the plugs, make sure you have spark, make sure you have fuel, and check timing. If all is well condem the PCM.

Yeh, I am going to check the plugs today...

All connections have been double checked..
The PCM is properly torqued and free of any bent pins, FOD, etc..

The fuel is getting to the rail and to the injectors - So we are getting fuel..

I do need to check the plugs and the timing, although, I have no way of checking the timing..

I'd replace the plugs with some new TR6's.

The plugs are brand new TR-55's...

Here are the four from the drivers side I just pulled..

They were wet with fuel, not sure if that's a good thing, bad thing or normal...

Clean them with a wire brush and see if that helps anything.

wet with fuel would cause my mower to not start everytime. my carb was old and the float was stuck or something. i would have to pull them clean them dry them then it would fire like a champ.

Jesse's tune is not perfect, but it's very streetable as it is.. I am still open headers, so I need to get the exhaust put back on it and we'll be in business..

Since you have a h/c setup you might want to run the TR6's instead of the TR55's. You should be making enough power for them. Glad to hear it's up and running again

Yeh, I may swap them out later..

The local advance didn't have TR6's, so I went with TR55's again..
