They are some mother's to get off of there. Make absolutely sure that you get that coolant out of there, or you will have a whole mess of problems on your hands if you don't. Be sure to utilize the www.ls1howto.com website.

I have been referencing LS1howto alot, the write ups are really helpful. So I drained the coolant, however I know there is still residual in the heads themselves. Go figure the very back head bolt under the cowl is being a total ***. I started raging like a roid freak after fighting it for 20 minutes. I think its about halfway out, but I have to get up early and go to school, so I am done for today. I checked my pushrods and they were all straight as an arrow, the rockers looked great and there was no sludge. Changing my oil religiously is definitly paying off. The engine doesnt look 114k miles old. I want to go with a slightly thinner gasket to up compression but is it worth it? Thanks guys.

If you are going with different heads and getting a cam it will depend on the cam size and if the heads have been milled. I just ordered my gm mls gaskets from speed inc.

I do have a NO2 kit sitting in the garage.... Well right now the goal is just to fix these damn gaskets, I think I might add a high flow oil pump while im at it. I want to do a cam, just not sure. Also this is my daily driver, the SS is the one im going to keep modding. Is there a good sponsor on the forum that sells the ARP head bolts cheap? Okay the NO2 is going in when I put her back together, thanks for the bad influence guys, you always come through.

You could put a TR 220 or 224 cam in it. Good daily driver cams. All you would need is some springs and pushrods to go with it. Would need some tuning though. If your going to take the oil pump off the cam is right there anyway. I got my arp head bolts from SDPC.

I really want to just dump a cam in there, but I have been trying to save money, I really want to buy a Barrett M107 rifle, which isnt cheap. Car or gun. Something to think about. I did pull the drivers side head off last night, the cylinders and the valves all had a rust color, can these be reconditioned or should I just get all new valves? I see this simple head gasket job turning into an all out rebuild.
