I'm also one of the lucky ones, my 60k 98 bird doesn't use a drop.

I have a 98 Z28 and I also don't use hardly any oil. I drive about 35-40 min to work and the same back home. In the summer I see 4-5k rpms on a regular basis. I have never been over 1/2 quart low during an oil change. Because of the driving I do, I change mine every 5k miles using mobil 1 5w30.

Yep... liquids go through. They shouldn't but they do.
It depends on how good is the venting system, newer LSx engines are apparently better than older ones.

I use 2/3 to 1 quart every 5000 miles on a 151K mile engine. It saw, (currently disassembled for head repair and cam swap) 4000rpm on a daily basis, but most of the miles are highway miles. Most of that oil went through the intake now that I can see what the intake and heads are looking like. Catch can coming soon for me.

Do you have a pic of the deposits?
Just to have an idea.

I cleaned up most of it, but I didn't get to all of the intake yet. I'll see if there's still some in there and get a pic if there is.
