Re: How do you pull the crank pulley bolt? Either buy the GM flywheel locking tool, or wedge a screwdriver in the teeth of the flywheel where the starter goes. If there is no flywheel on the motor, are the heads off? If so, stick a tennis ball in one of the cylinders and throw a cylinder head on with a couple of bolts...that'll stop the engine from turning. If the heads are on and there's no flywheel, I'm not really sure short of an impact wrench.
Re: How do you pull the crank pulley bolt? If you have a good impact you wont need to brace anything. It will zip it right off. Jack up the air pressure a bit if it wont come off right away.
Lol...I have a nitrogen bottle that i use for my nitrogen push on the the nitrous setup. But I also have an air adapter to run tools (impact) at the track. The regulator goes to 3000 psi. When I cant get a crank bolt with regular air pressure (120 psi) I hook that sucker up and regulate about 300-400 psi to the impact.....it comes off then!

Re: How do you pull the crank pulley bolt? Another way I do it put the motor on a stand then thread in 2 flywheel bolts a little ways. Wedge a thick lock screw driver in between and up against one of the arms on the engine stand. I am replacing my flywheel bolts with ARP ones so messing up the threads at all for me isnt a prob. Just an ideal though just in case the others dont work for ya.

Re: How do you pull the crank pulley bolt? The impact wrench didn't work for me, I sat there with the wrech cranking for good 10 mintues and the bolt didn't budge. But the tennis ball trick worked wonders! Took me 5 mintues to put in a ball, bolt the head, and loosen the bolt. Thanks jmX
