Are the rocker arms and pushrods installed?

If so, remove them and Your problems should be over.

If not, dis-regard My post.

befor you pull it apart... time it and conect the timing chain after its degreed. try and rotate the engine over SLOWLY. there is a good chance you may have had the cam just sitting in ther at the wrong degree. if anything is hitting the cam, it would be the connecting rod endcap. check the clearance to all the lobes, you should have a minimum of about .020. may have to grind the endcap, and depending on how much you take off you may have to get the rotating assymbly balanced again.
