Default Need Tuning? TR224

Installing a TR224-563-112, Spec Stage III, Yella Terra's, FLP LTs, etc, etc...On a '99 M6 TA. Going to have it dyno tuned with ls1edit at somepoint, but wondering what kind of shape I will be in without tuning?

Thanks
-Andrew

less than you will be with, for sure. Tuning will make it drive better too, idle better, better gas mileage.

I'm insatlling same cam then driving 160 miles for tuning. This won't be till perhpas August, but If I remember to post before/after, I will.

I am running the tr224 with 112LSA.....idles fine, runs fine (rich as you can see in my failed sniffer ) But other than that I have no driveability problems, even in traffic. Gained about 21 horse without a tune, and a friend gained another 20 from a tune on the same cam...so for full power get it tuned, but if its a cash thing (waiting to buy edit) then it should drive just fine without tuning. PM if you need anything else.

If I was going to run that cam without tuning, I would raise the idle up a little with the idle adjustment screw. Sometimes the screw is too short so people take it out and put it in the opposite way so the head is holding the TB open a little farther. Another option is to drill out the hole to let more air in; do it one drill size at a time and check the idle or you may go too far.

I do not have my 224 tuned and it can be a PITA sometimes, for the most part it runs good but I am sure I am missing alot of potential with it.

My friend has a Comp 224 and he drove around for about 5 months without tuning. He has an M6, but it would still stall out every once in a while, and you could tell that the stock rev limiter was really holding the car back.

Thanks for the info

Probably going to have everything installed--break in the clutch and have it tuned within a couple weeks.

Larry, would you like to wait for my ported oil pump and adjustable timing set to show up before I send everything out?

Oh yea, those definitely won't work either. Send them to me too! Actually I have a good double roller timing chain but send that oil pump anyway. You know those heads and rockers are going to be defecive so better send them too.

The 224 on 112 can cause a misfire engine light which sometimes will load the cylinders with fuel causing gas washed cylinders.I have only seen this a few times and alot of people don't get it.
I would highly recommend getting it tuned ASAP.I mean you buy the Cam,so why not have it run a 100%??
