Default ENGINE TICKING!!! i have no clue what it is video inside!!!

Ok I was doing some "runs" with my car at a local place... and all of a sudden i hear a clicking sound.... i have no clue what it is! weve checked oil out ... was some what low but nothing big... we still put some in same noise kept ticking aways! it sputters like hell while driving and i notice while doing 55 or 60 in 6th gear you try to Give it some gas,( flooring it) it back fires! i have no idea what it is .... i just got here and took a video of it when we found out something was ticking ill post more later! thx!

Not sure what your setup is but the backfiring and ticking sounds like a valve train issue. If you are stock, check for bent pushrods. I would also check the rockers while they are off to make sure none have spewed their bearings. If it is neither of these, then you need to start getting deeper into the motor.

g5x2 cam headers duals tb are my mods....hope this helps! posting another video....it sounds to me like i have ticking somewhere along both sides of my heads!

My best guess would be a collapsed lifter.

Bent push rod or collapsed lifter probably. Use the "long screwdriver handle to the ear" trick (if you dont have a stethoscope) to help you pinpoint the side of the engine and location front to back.

Just Took Off My Driver Side Valve Cover! One Of My Springs Is Broken!!!! Im Glad To See Its Not Anything Else Big! But For Now Im Going To Awsome Its Just A Spring... I Have To Take Off The Other Valve Cover To See What It Looks Like! Im Glad Its Nothing To Big! Well Im Assuming..... Sorry For The Caps Im Kinda Glad! Thx For Everyones Help Ill Post Pics A Bit Later!

Look at what happend last night! After a couple of runs look at the dual spring! Nice arent they!!! It broke! So it looks like i will be out of comission for awhile guys!

You need to do a compression check. That spring broke in the middle and the inner spring will offer little support for the valve at any higher RPM's. Since you were doing some "runs" there is a high likelihood that the valves have hit the piston. Dual springs do not guarantee that a valve didn't hit a piston.

Thats very true. But, they do usually save a motor from catastrophic damage. Had that been a beehive, he wouldnt be worried about ticking.

agreed, compression test it and cross your fingers while you do it. interested in what brand those springs are.

lol you probably havnt changed those springs since you bought that car with that cam huh lol run a big cam you gotta change them springs yearly
