Default guide plates?

I have always ran guide plates in my old sbc's and they were stock on all my big blocks. Are they needed for my LS1 running a 230/232 604/604 113 lsa cam. I will see a lot of track time as well as weekend cruises. Thanks

The stud mounted aftermarket rockers by Crane and Comp use guide plates. The stock rockers, Yella Terra's, Harland Sharps do not. Then there are full shaft setups like the Crane's and Jessel's. (Crane has two rocker setups for the LSx motors). Personally, with that much lift, I would go with some Yella Terra's to reduce the wipe width over that of the stock rockers to improve the life of the valve guides.
