Well, the first responder told me that the 243 heads are LS6. I edited my sig shortly afterward. So are you saying that they are not?

LOL. No, I'm being straight with everyone. So if these are LS6 heads, then what are the odds that I have a non-stock CAM installed as well? Is there any way to check for this without tearing my motor apart?

i know some late cars had the ls6 block but im pretty some (select few had the 243 heads). My 02 WS6 was all stock except for the midtubes and air filter it had in it when i got it (i was second owner) and my car had the stock 02 ls6 intake and it also had the 243 ls6 heads on it and they have never been off. my 01 camaro on the other hand has the 241's so i honestly think a select few of the cars randomly got them. my build number on the car was like #12,463 or something like that for 2002.

Pull the valve covers and see what springs you have. It doesn't take too long either.

Probably not LS6 heads (which would mean they have the LS6 valves). They're probably 243s with LS1 valves.

Put the car on a dyno and find out how much power it makes.

Hell yeah I'm serious. You would eat that laugher alive if you can hook it up. You're making 370 hp to the wheels. He's laughing because he's nervous.

With all respect If you were the second owner how do you know that the heads had NEVER been off? There is no way you could be sure of that. If an F-Body has 243s they were put on, not came with them. To the original poster......Lucky You!

you feeling your car come alive at 2500 is normal. ls1's are top end queens. thats when the power really starts to kick in.

Thanks to all for making my day. BTW, If I had a place to work on my car out of the weather I would pull the valve covers off and check the springs. Oh well, one day. At least you guys have sparked my curiosity. Thanks again.

Alright, I will try this over the weekend. Which side would be easier to tackle? Drive or pass?

Actually if you just pull the oil fill tube out and take a flashlight to the hole, you can see in there just fine without removing any valve covers at all

Im pretty sure the springs should be yellow in color. That is a trademark of the ls6 heads.
