Default PRC LS6 & MS4 or PRC 5.3s & MS3

I am trying to decide on which of these packages will produce the most power.

1.) PRC LS6 Stage 1.0 Heads and MS4 cam
or
2.) PRC 5.3 2.5 Heads and MS3 cam

Any ideas? I have seen a lot of the 2nd package dynos but not many of the first package.

why not do the stage 2.5 heads and ms4..i know a guy that did that combo and his car seriously hauls. Of course he had them milled down to 58cc and had to flycut but he is very happy with it.

Well the MS3 cam and the 5.3 is a good setup for sure and proven but the only advantage with the 5.3 heads I think is the combustion chamber is smaller which will raise compresion but the MS4 with LS6 heads will net a little more HP and more top end (MPH) in the 1/4 mile but with the .649/609 lift will be hard on valve springs and may but I dont know need flycuttoing but Im sure Texas Speed could tell you when you are ordering. Good Luck

I really dont want to flycut the pistons. The LS6 stage 1 heads will work with the MS4 without flycutting. Ive seen one dyon sheet with that package and it made good power. I just prefer the MS4 to the MS3.

Ya but then you will have to flycut the pistons.

because you are bringing the head (which has the valves in it) closer to the face of the pistion. So the answer is to "flycut" the piston which is to make some reliefs basically so the valve has more room (because it is so close to the piston now)

When they say millimg the heads that means they are having them shaved to up compression that makes the compustion chamber smaller. I wouldn't do it. I would bolt them on as is and if anything have them CNC ported.

Hopefully i can still make some good power from the combo. It will have a Ported Fast 90/90 setup on top of it so i should still make some good numbers.

Either one of them will be a good combo, have you called Texas Speed and ask them what they recommend and you can tell them what you are looking for. They will be the one to ask.

I liked my Ls6 heads and ms4. when my motor goes back together with the forged pistons and h-beam rods, Im still going to use that head and cam combo. Im shooting for a 500rwhp 347 setup. From all the research ive done a popular cam to do that with is a 237/242 112lsa cam... so 239/242 111lsa is almost that exact thing in my opinion better!

I would take the MS4 and LS6's. With a big combo like that your not thinking about low end advantages which seems to be the reason for the 5.3 following. I would take the 2.5's and flycutt as well though. I think if you got to install heads and cam it would probably be worth your time to drop the motor. It would make the install much easier anyways. So you may as well flycutt while you got it out. From what I hear you can have the motor out in less than 4 hours. Just a thought.

Neither Setups Make Good Lowend Power But For The 1\4th You Shouldent Care...

That Being Said Id Rather Make Power By Having Better Heads Then By Having A Bigger Cam...

Ideally You Could Do A 347 With Valve Relifs And Ms4 Cam And Stage 2 Heads ...

In The Realworld Your Probally Not Gonna Replace your pistons So Your Choises Become Limited

I Think Avoiding Flycutting Is Important If You Plan Of Using N20

Saying All This, You End Up With My Choise Of Stage 2.5 5.3l Heads And A Ms3 Cam

Get the 2.5 ls6's and the ms4. Get the heads milled to 59cc and rent a head/flycutting tool from LG motorsports. It's easy to do and you'll be glad you did when it is done.

I just dont feel safe flycutting the pistons. I talked to Tsp and they said i should still make anywhere from 440 to 460 without milling or flycutting the heads.

Dont Flycut.. If You Want To Use Power Adders Latter This Will Greatly Increase The Chance Of Detonation

If Your 1--% Sure That You Will Never Spray The Car Then Flycutting Can Be Dont But Still If Done Wrong It Can Create Hotspots (ie: Detonation)

Im Verry Happy With My Ms3 5.3l Setup.... Im Would Be Makeing atleast 450rwhp if I Was A M6 Car

i Like The Bigger Ms4 Cam But I Dont See It As Being A Good Idea If :

1: You Gotta Use A Less Efficent Head And Make The Same #'s
2: You Gotta Fly Cut
