Question 383 stroker oil pan to oil pick-up clearance question?

I am installing a SDPC 383 in my C5. I am using the supplied ARP washers to off-set the windage tray (to make clearance for the rod-bolts).

I know that on F-bodys this can put the oil pick-up too close to the bottom of the oil pan. Is this also an issue with C5 ( Y body ) oil pans???

Any help appreciated!

I always mock up the pan with the gasket etc. to check actual clearance with clay (between the pick up and pan bottom). Use clay on top of the pickup and measure it crushed after the install. While Im sure every builder has his preferred dimension, I feel .200 -.250 is where you want to be.

Good luck with the new build!

Hmmm... that is exactly what I have, .210 on one end of the pickup and .250 on the other...

Not doubting you in the least Tony, but that "seems" like so little room to get the oil

Dont sweat it. 1/4 inch is plenty. Standard clearance for every damn thing I build.
