Revised 918 Beehive Springs
Revised 918 Beehive Springs I called up Comp Cams today and was talking to one of there reps about a cam and also asked them about the revised 918 springs being good up to .625 lift. Well this rep informed me that the new 918's are good for .650 lift........does anyone else new of this or has heard of this.

Yeah. There is a post below this one about some guy who had really bad luck with them. They have been "fixed" how many times now and some people are still having issues. Comp is a good company but I'll never run 918's as there are better options for the same $$$$.

I have an older set of 918's, almost 4 years old, with no problems, even after over a year of 1.8 rockers that brought my lift a little over .600, I just wasn't sure what was accuate when this rep told me about the whole .650 lift for the new 918's.

Comp addressed this and said there was a finishing problem that wasnt done correctly and that why a few batches broke.....Sometime poo happens boys,doesnt make Comp a bad company...
It is correct that u must decide on what install height your usuing but if u go by Comps install height I BELIEVE there rated to .625

You guys should do a little research. Remember one broken spring can destroy your entire engine. It's a recent enough problem for me to stay away from them, and like said above, how many times have they "revised" them only for the same problem to return? Just one thread with many people having the same problem:

First off they went from reccomending the 941 which had some issues at times to the 918,Then they had an issue with them that was corrected..
Do u honestly think no other company has had issues?
Are u that blind,look at the valve issues that AFR had and cost them some problems
Look at Patriot...
They had some heads fall apart.
Look at Dart..
They revised there valve size once they new we didnt want Gen II valve sizing?
What about TX Speed
They had some porting problems with some heads and corrected it?
What about Futrals cams not being hardeded properly?
That was a issue too...
The point is POOP HAPPENS....
Sometimes its the companies fault and sometimes not...
Lastly if u think Comp makes the springs then u are sadly mistaken.There are about 3 or 4 companies that make springs for everyone,again sometimes things get overlooked and the consumer pays dealer...
Its sad but it happens not just in car modding but in life in general....

my buddy ran a set for 3 days all but one broke, the replacement set lasted 10k mi, had the engine apart due to bearing failure four months later they were still in good condition, comp called and asked it he would like to try the revised design he took'em a week later he dropped a valve due to a broken retainer, if you go with those springs get the ti retainers for the lightweight and added strength , good spring i just think some guys forget to check pushrod length then you wind up side loading the spring and snap
There is nothing wrong with Patriot springs,I was just saying they had some issues with welding heads about 3 yrs ago....The TSP problems were that they ported the heads alittke to far and had some oil using problems but that has been addressed for at least a 2 years now.
I was just trying to point out that sometimes problems arise but it the good companies that step up and fix the issue when it happens...
Everyone one the the companies I previously mentioned fixed ALL of their issues..
I take my hat off tothem for correcting an honest mistake..
