Default PRC Heads and Pre 00 coolant lines

Hey guys,

I'm in the middle of my head/cam swap and noticed that when I looked at the PRC 5.3's I bought, the 98 coolant line (running from front of head to back under the intake manifold) won't fit. The hookup for the PRC head is angled while the hookup for the stock head is flat. What have you guys running a setup like this done? Can I just bend the coolant line carefully to fit the new heads?

Thanks for your help

Yes you can bend it but be careful. I have the same heads but mine went on a 02 car

I know I can buy the kit, but will the LS6 tubes fit without with out any modifications on my 5.3 heads? I'm also a fan of the pre 2000 tubes just because they hit both the front and back of the block. Kind of leery about plugging a coolant line

FWIW, I believe that most of the GM race cars run the older style full tubes now, to help avoid hot spots in the rear of the heads; I know Hot Rod or one of the magazines discussed that. It's pretty easy to modify an LS6 intake to clear them also.

Bending the ends (carefully) should work well; perhaps a little added heat when you do it also.

Is this all 5.3 heads? I was going to put a ported set on my 04 GTO LS1 motor which has the LS6 intake. Is there pics anywhere I can reference? Thanks !!!

Has anyone actually fabricated this setup using the stock cooling pipes?
