I don't really know what "reasonable" means when you are talking about a C5R block and/or motor.

the best price i have gotten so far is a little bit more than 5800 bucks from a non-sponsor i found in my gm high performance catalog...i emailed about 100 or so, and got about 50 reply's and that was my best price quote on teh block. the best price i have gotten on 12480090 heads is 883 a piece, and that was way lower then the other guys, the second lowest was around 1100...i plan on calling up the two dealers who had the lowest prices on the respective parts pretty soon...

If I understand Scoggin Dickeys website correctly thats a GT-2 single head price. Is that A C5R head?If so what needs to be done to them?Man If thats a C5R head,I'll have a set on my car in short order.Any info would be appreciated.
From scoggin dickey they are bare (as they are everywhere)
Yes 883.00 each is what you can find them for some places. A custom manifold and complete head assembly is required. You are looking at atleast 6,000 plus the cost of the heads to have a set complete.
As for the c5r block you can get it for around 5-6K, and if you have an account (or know someone that does) with a local chevy dealer, you may be able to get it less!
Lingenfelter makes one identical to the c5r, but it is wet sump, where as the true c5r is dry sump.

The C5R block can be had in either wet sump or dry sump. Katech is the only one who sells the dry sump block since they get the block before it is sent out to be machined for wet sump.
Scoggin Dickey (our GM sponsor) has good prices on C5R blocks, I have seen them go for ~$6100. Scoggin and Katech get them from the company in MI that makes them. Some folks think that Katech makes them and that's not the case.
Hey Pro Stock:
You may think $6,100 is a good price for a C5R block; I think you are a "born" salesman.... ...keep those sponsor sales rolling in...
...but seriously, some, including me, find it hard to see the value in spending $6K+ for a stretched LS1 aluminum block....
...OK, if your have the budget to run 24 hours at Daytona, then you might have an extra $6K to burn,

Dork alert!
$6100 is good for one of THOSE blocks. I see folks paying $6600-6800 for them if they don't look around.
I'm not trying to talk folks into that block I can't afford one either Mister Happy.

Hey John:
Everybody has a bad day now and again; don't take it out on me!
My only point is that there are other less expensive alternatives to the $6K C5R!
As you know, these are not exactly flying off the selves of our sponors....

I don't think that PSJ said that a $6100 block is a good idea for most people. He only said that $6100 is a good price for a C5R block (very true.) ...And you go accusing him of trying to line the sponsor's pockets? WTF?
