Default Comp Cam Question???

I have a comp cam 224/228 with a 581/588 lift. I was just wondering what the RPM range is on this cam and what everyone sets their rev limiter at. Just curious about this because my car doesnt seem to pull the way it should.

Probably around 2-6.5k powerpand, would set the limiter to 6800.

A higher LSA will carry higher and also affect shift points.

well I guess it is good to 7000rpm I wouldnt rev that high though if I were you. I set my limiter at 6500 even though my cam would love to rev way past that.

After about 6300 I wouldn't think you are doing yourself any good, it's pretty much standard for 224/228 cams. Some companies advertise the it's good to 7k, some say it's good to 6100. The average tuner setting shift points in an auto wouldn't carry it out that far looking at the dyno sheet

x2,we usually set the rev limiter to 6500 on cars with a 224 cam,no sense in killing it,generally it take a cam in the low 230 range to make power at 7000

Granted i'm sure this is a stock cube application but what bothers me about all the replys... nobody bothered to ask what cube it was. Something that would greatly effect the rpm band of this cam. Having done this very thing for a living...it would have been my first question......not to mention we don't know the lsa, which will effect the range and how quickly the power will peak within that range.

Typical post from a kid....If you don't know what information to base your answers on...it's wrong information.
