Thanks for the help. So what is the advantage of using bronze guides over the stock powdered metal ones?

Bronze guides are an industry standard, the initial sizing can be tighter and they have higher lubricity. There are several things that make powdered metal guides more difficult to work with, availability being one of them.

One huge factor in service for TFS is their 215, 225 and 235 heads are ALL in stock and on the shelf at Summit, and any TFS dealer can order them today and they will ship today. So you can buy them today and they will ship today, you can also get a Summit speed card that has interest free financing for 1 year with any purchase over $500.

I have to agree with the roller rocker comment. I am currently running Darts and will be switching to AFR's soon. When I set up the Darts with stock rockers, the wipe patterns were horrible and some were even off to the side. Couple that with the higher spring loads required for faster aftermarket cams and I think the valve guide wear will suffer accordingly, what ever head you choose. I am currently running Crane rocker arms and the wipe pattern is one of the reasons. I spent a lot of time on the work bench playing with the wipe pattern of the stock rockers and the Cranes, in the end I couldn't get the stock rockers even close. I have found the same with Yella Terra, much narrower wipe pattern than stock buy you must spend the time to set them up and not just bolt them on.

Are they necessary (can't speak to the TFS heads)? No. Are they recommended? I would strongly recommend them for any higher valve spring loads even on GM heads. But this is just my opinion. The final hp number is not the only reason to consider the roller rockers.

Hey guys sorry it took me so long to respond, ive been real busy. Thanks for all the input i think i want to get the trickflows, but ive been talking to a couple of guys that say the darts go with my cam so itll be the best for my setup. Is that true or are the trickflows still ok top put on my car?

I put a set of ET 's on my 402, and if I had to do it all over again, I'd put the same ET's on it again. They may be a little harder to come by, but in the end, they're an excellent quality piece and there's a version out there for everyone.

best heads out for these cars...

ET Performance heads are top notch quality and make great #s n/a and boost.

Trickflow again top notch I would say very comparable quality to ETP heads but the trickflow 215 head are making the MOST power n/a.

For boosted application I would choose either head but for n/a trickflow.

AFR is last years news good head but not the newest stuff making better power.

all imo... from my research as a avid SBC modder.

So with my setup the trickflows would be the best heads out of the three? I only ask because some people say the trickflows arent as good as darts because of my setup.

do those people have trickflow heads? how do they know about whats going to happen with your setup and those heads?
probably just bias because they have dart heads and they dont want you to be faster LOL.

I went with AFR's mainly due to the thicker deck and not having to go with a high dollar rocker set up, and they are an awesome head.

I started out stock (obviously) and went to AFR 205's, great head. So good in fact that I re used them on my 402. I found myself in a unique position to upgrade to tfs 215's and sell my afr 205's. Swap takes place next week. Stay tuned for an update.

On a side note I am being told the tfs 215's are going to maintain my strong lowend torque that my afr 205's provided and add mid/upper rpm HP that the afr's just couldn't because they were a little overwhelmed by the 402. Sounds like the best of both worlds.

Again stay tuned. Good looking out John (spectre86) for bumping this oldie but goodie.
