Not happy with my dyno numbers

Not happy with my dyno numbers
I have a 99 sscamaro auto with all the boltons and with this cam 224/224 567/567 @114 from comp cams. I even have the ls1 edit and I only put out 350hp and 346tq to the wheels. What went wrong? Should I dump the cam and get a better one, and if so which one should I get.

Re: Not happy with my dyno numbers
-ls6 intake
-ported TB
-hooker LT header no cats
-918 springs
-ASp crank pulley
-comp cams 224/224 567/567 @114
-borla ex. with a cutout
_LS1 edit
-3.73 gears
-160 stat
Would use my 150 TNT but I just jacked up my tranny at the track.

The cam was installed by a friend of mine. He didnt degree the cam, he just put the the timing gears in TDC and thats all she wrote. Pluse I didnt see him use a tq wrench. What should I do if thats whats causing power lose. Thats what u mean by preload, right? The Tq of the rockers.

Re: Not happy with my dyno numbers
Yes, basically you TQ the rockers down on a cyl at TDC, and you should get 1 1/2-2 turns from spring contact to TQ! Also, who tuned your car w./ edit? Do they know all the stuff to do, delete TM, COT etc??? What was your A/F, if your runnign really rich it will dyno low as well. Theres a lot more to the Dyno #'s then just saying your mods and I got xxx on the dyno.

Re: Not happy with my dyno numbers
Degreeing your cam is crucial. You need to concentrate on valve event and retard the cam. Most cams come with 4 dgrees advanced. That's not always a good thing. I would degree the cam. IF you want to swap out the cam go with a custon. A friend goes by the sign 93PONY on norcal-ls1.com. He set up a custom reverse split using an XE_R intake lobe. It hauls ***. Most cams you can buy a generic grind and use a smaller XE lobe. My 220/220 .581/.566 at 112 is actually larger at .200-.400.

I got my tuning at MTI by Jason. Now and then I get a SES light. One of my friends said it was a cam code. WHen the cam was installed the car would die when it was on drive. I would have to give it gas in order to keep it running. Back to SES light, it comes on for a while then it turns of again. Why does it do that?

That cam should yield 390 rwhp if everything is set up right. Flashing SES means missfire, common with aftermarket cams at idle. This can be edited out with LS1edit. I belive the missfire code is P0300.

Re: Not happy with my dyno numbers
I just used my body's scanmaster and no other code showed. So with this cam should see 390hp. When I was getting my car dyno at mti you could see that something was wrong by looking at thier face's. They set up my rev. at 6600. Should I send it back to have it set up for 7000 due to the TNT.

Re: Not happy with my dyno numbers
I'd leave the rev limit at 6600. 7000 will eat an engine with the stock low end. Doing a thorough check with Autotap would be a good idea; as suggested above there may be other problems. Just looking for codes with a scanmaster isn't the same thing. And since your cam installer didn't even use a torque wrench, it would be a good idea to go back over the valve train as well.

Re: Not happy with my dyno numbers
O.K 99 heads are not that bad, I did 403.5 with a 224 .581 with stock heads. If your trany is shot like you said that could be some of your loss right there. Other wise have MTI degree the cam, set the rocker preload and retune. I think you will be happy. P.S if you have cats on the car loose them.

Re: Not happy with my dyno numbers
I guess that's what I'll have to do. But still can I do something to get the same numbers as you'res ONEBADWS6. I have no cats and thinking of going with a true dull ex.
