Thats when I did mine & I bumped my comphression up to 11:1 too. As long as your motor is well taken care of & looks to be in good shape before & after cracking it open, you should be fine. Mine still had the original cross hatching in the cylinders.
If your gonna do heads you might as well do a cam while you got it tore down, it'll take all of a extra 5 minutes with the heads off & lifters removed. Then you'll really notice the addition of the heads. I would say heads only is worth waiting till you wanna do a cam for the best results. Also your gonna want to at least pick up a set of LS7 lifters since they are onnly about $100.

As long as the motor is in good running condition now, go for it. You could do a compression test on all cylinders first if you were worried.
Also when you do the swap, change out lifters and the oil pump. Other than that, lots of ppl have had successful swaps with mileage like yours.

dont bother with a compression test, instead go with a leak-down test.
This will tell u if your ring and possibly valve seats are doing. If you have more than say 10% leak-down, its better off to rebuild the whole motor and then do H/C.

i put my cam in at 120k, put the heads on around 140k and ive got 174k on the motor now and it still runs like the day i bought it.. except it pulls a hell of a lot harder These motors, when well taken care of, can last forever it seems

I recently bought the car in my sig with 100k on it. Mods have been on for about 5k miles. It runs better than fine. Sucks having to explain the noise roller rockers make to all the rice guys though
