Default Should I install used LS6 heads

I have purchased an LG cam kit with the G5X3 cam. I was planning on installing the kit in my stock (241) heads. I am now considering purchasing some used Z06 - LS6 (243) heads (not aftermarket ported or polished heads) to add to the package.

What would be the benefit over using my stock LS1 heads? SHould i do this or wait and save up more $$ to buy ported and polished heads?

My current mods are:

2004 C5 coupe
LTs
GHL bullets
4.10 gears
Haltech Stinger
LS6 intake manifold(stock on my 04 coupe)
160 thermostat

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

sounds like a good idea to me if you get them for a really good deal.

The stock 243's will definitely help power production compared to the 241's. If your budget allows, they would be a major improvement to the engine package. Of course, the same head correctly ported offers even greater advantages.

Save up and get a set of Ported heads TSP sells their stg1 ls6 heads for about $1000. Youll benefit big with those over stock, with a cam.

it depends what your goals are-the unported heads will run really good and make a ton of power-upwards of 440rwhp,but if your end goal is more than that save up for ported heads and a fast intake
