Same here; new pump looks just like the old pump in my 2001. I think the problems are all install related - except when debris gets in the presure relief valve, but even that could be debris from a cam install.

When I installed my cam at 80,000 miles I saw NO need to replace either the oil pump or the timing chain. The car now has 96,000 miles without a hitch. If your car has 24,000 miles I would not replace the oil pump or chain. If they haven't failed yet, odds are they won't. The majority of people who have spun bearings ran they cars low on oil. I have NEVER seen an Ls1 broken timing chain that was not caused by some other catastrophic prior event in the engine. Just my 2c..
