Default Anyone using the TR 224/227 Split Reverse?

I was looking at this cam the other day and I was wondering how it sounded(I'm looking for a choppy/ almost radical idle). I was also wondering what kind of power it would make on a bolt on car(cam only)? As of now I don't have headers, intake, port tb, or a pulley but I will have all these by the time I do install the cam.(I'm probably looking to install one around December or January b/c I would like at least 1 good day of racing before I do ANYTHING else to the car-performance wise). I was also wondering how well this cam responded to nitrous?

That cam is actually a standard or traditional split cam. And I have not heard all that much about the cam... but the traditional splits are making great power right now... especially the bigger ones.

I am probably going with a big standard splity cam... maybe the LG G5X-2, or something similar.

There is a great post in the Internal Engine section that has a Z06 with GTP stage 2 LS6 heads and the G5X-2 cam. It is titled something like Link up for G5X-2 and LS6 heads... or something to that effect.

I think that the post is within the first couple of pages... check it out.

I have that cam, but have not been to the dyno after the install yet. But the cam feels VERY strong, and I still dont have headers yet. As for idle, you can tell there is a cam in there, but it isnt very radical sounding.

I'm gunna look at the LG motorsports cam...... b/c I know a guy who baught one just hasn't put it in yet. BUT I would still like to stay with the old trusty Thunder Racing performance.......being that they are only about 2.5 hours from me.

6-speedZ.... do you have any before and/or after track times of the cam?

You might look at getting the TR230 cam if you want to stay with thunder. It is not a traditional split... but a reverse split. It will make great power. With Longtube headers there should be no reason why your A4 car should not make 375+... probably more. It will also give you that harder idle that you may be looking for.

I didn't really want to go that big with a cam b/c that would put my engine in a pretty high RPM and I don't really care to spin this motor that high. I don't like the A4 making power that high and I also have a stock shortblock and nitrous sooooo 7000 RPM and nitrous on a stock shortblock might get NASTY after a while.....
