Default Cam and Milled heads- What cam Do I get to avoid PTV problems

I have a 99 LS1. the heads have had a valve job prior, where I know they milled the heads, but Im unsure of the ammount.. but i know it shouldnt be more than .025

1. Is there a way to measure exactly the ammount?

2. Using a stock head gasket, assumeing the worst of .025, What cam Can I go with?

I was looking to do a magic stick 4 Can the experts chime in and tell me if this is going to be feaseable and if not Recomend something for me to go with..

Im looking for the biggest cam I can do with my current milled heads.

This is the how you check your piston to valve clearance. With a large cam like you are talking about and the "unknown" which is how much these heads have been milled which is very important. I suggest that you follow this procedure to be sure you have the proper clearance.

no way will a ms4 fit with any milled heads...barely fits with stock heads and gaskets...i am thinking something in the 224/224 range...maybe 228/228

My heads (TEA) were milled 30/1000s and TEA told me that I should not run a cam with duration above 230 or I would have to notch the pistons. The cam he is talking about is much larger than that.

can machine shops notch the pistons? with the motor out, with heads removed sent to them?

If so now much would it cost me...
