Default Does this sound like a oil pump O-ring problem??

I just finished a H/C install on a customers car and upon starting the car sounded good but no oil pressure.Checked for leaks and made sure the oil sender was plugged in and started again.Car was very quiet and gave a quik rev to 2k rpm,oil pressure shot up to 45psi then slowly dropped back down to 0.Then we shut it down.
I've done a few installs with no problems.A double row timing chain was installed which you have to force the oil pickup out to line up.Also a 01 oil pump was used (off my car, worked perfect before removed)

So is this a symptom of the O-ring??

Thanks

Since it dropped all the way to zero after shooting up to 45psi I'd say the pressure relief valve stuck; probably got some crud in it from the install. I think the guys with the O-ring problem have low pressure, not zero pressure

Yes that happened to me too. In my case it was due to corrosion, probably bad storage ( new 01 pump). Used rust remover and the piston started moving without any restriction and no problems since.

I found the problem.I forgot to install the O-ring Mistaked the metal ring on the tube as the O-ring I installed a new O-ring and pressure was right at 60psi on startup

When installing the SDPC double roller, I think it is important to:

1. replace the old o-ring with a new one
2. install the oil pick up tube BEFORE the oil pump bolts are installed.

This allows the filler tube to align properly and tightening the bolts after installation of the tube allows it to bend slightly....

The SDPC Rollmaster directions SUK...

I told the customer personally that I screwed up.There was no damage to the motor and was very quiet without the O-ring for the 20 seconds it ran.I don't hide mistakes I do!! This just reminds me to not be up for 3 days straight and put a motor together. But I have to pay the bills somehow
