Default What are typical "224 cam" times?

You cam-only guys what are your times with 224 cams? I am an m6 but a4 input is also appreciated. How much will the times improve with a set of heads? I know this is repetetive but I would like to see this for confidence as I am about to do a 224 myself.

Thanks
Stan

I haven't been to the track with my 224 yet, but from looking at how others have done you should pick up about 50 hp on the cam alone with PCM tuning. I believe that equates to about half a second in the quarter mile. Heads are probably worth 20 to 25 more hp on top of that depending what heads you get. If you are wondering about doing the cam, I say go for it, I just put my TR224 in and couldn't be happier! It does have a mild lope, but that was something I wanted.

I gained around 1/2 second in the quarter. I was running 13.2's with horrible 2.2 60's with just headers and I put the cam in without tuning, running 12.7's. Great cam

typical M6 times are 11.8-12.2 depending on traction, but its no reason they cant hit mid 11's with good driver, 60, and weather

typical A4 times are 11.5-12.0

but all of those depend on how fast the car went before the cam(how well the car has been set up)

I mean if you work to get 12.0's SI and then throw in the cam you are gonna go faster than just throwing one in when you were only running upper 12's/low 13's

my ET's in the sig.... its no reason why all cam cars shouldnt be in the low-mid 11's cause look how fast the SI guys are!! Given all conditions are the same(weight, weather, driver skill, track, and etc etc) we should all be in the same ET area since we do have the same friggin motors and cars. Hope this makes sense

but to answer the question its hard to say. ET's range from 11.4-12.7's

I ran 12.1s consistently with the TR224 cam only, raceweight of 3515, stock rear and gears.
