Default head help

hey, i am on a real tight budget and was told that my heads are junk but i wanna know what will be the best head.
i have a set of 98 model heads that has double valve springs and has been ported by patriot, i was told it was some of the first ones that patriot did.
the car ran well with the set up with a small cam,i am changing some stuff up and going with a large cam.and was thinking of a 5.3 head but i want some help to decide what i need thanks
i am building the engine stock but with forged internals and will be spraying about 150-175 cam is going to be a ms4 thanks for any help

Look for some used heads to save a ton of money. Doing it that way you can afford a nicer head. Nothing wrong with used heads if you dont pay to much for them.

why not have your heads checked out? for a fraction of the cost you may find they are pretty decent.

if nothing else the results will help you sell them to recoup some $$

what would make them "bad" for a bigger cam if they worked well for the smaller one?
either way you'd have to check ptv clearance.

i am going to repl the pistons,i had just talked to some people that said that the 98 heads are junk,i am unsure of who did the port work, i was told it was patriot and was told that bo white did the port work.
i purchased the complete engine with the heads but the set up that was in the car that i bought it from ran 7.40 motor and 6.60 on spray.
i am unsure of how much spray i have heard deferent from everybody
the times is 1/8 mile

Why were you told they were "junk"? If its just because they are 98's then don't listen to them.

The only glitch I've seen with early Patriot heads was a bad batch of valvesprings, which Patriot consistently replaced whether they failed or not. No complaints on their porting or chamber work, just the springs and they're easily swapped.
