oh snap, carnage pics inside!!
1.) Ring end-gap set too tight, ends butt together at operating temp.
2.) Excessively lean fuel:air mix. Looking at the adjacent head chamber, that one appears to be slightly rich...whereas your failed chamber and piston crown show slightly lean burn conditions. Partially obstructed injector maybe?
A piston does not fail for no good reason. Either the tune-up was off or whoever built it did not gap the ring(s) correctly for proper use. A third but rare option is, outside peices of something got inside the chamber.
Could you post the specs of the engine? Dyno graph?
And yes, Diamond makes one hell of a piston. This is not a random piston failure, something caused this for a specific reason.
my plan was to put the tape on and then the moving blanket so that the blanket didn't scratch the paint. couldn't find a moving blanket but to answer your question, haha YES it worked great, just make sure you also tape the front bumper cause i didn't and my friend leaned up against it and scratched it.

I would love to post up a dyno graph but the member i bought the car from who has posted in this thread failed to deliver the paperwork on the car. I had to call *sponsor* myself and get the info on the last work that was done to the engine.
ps. also missing the proper door panel that i never recieved & hatch liner

That sucks though....i hope you get this fixed so we can hit up the track this summer.
anyways, i would stay away from DRP then... is this Diamond Racing Pistons? if not the pistons fault, then its whoever built the motor. if not that then the tune. Results like this, is why i am going with a carb style intake and a elbow....

yeah they are diamond pistons. I am doubting its who built the motor, more or less who tuned it. Partially my fault for not having it tuned for the whopping 4 or 5k i actually got to drive the car before it went kaboom.
btw the previous owner lied to me and said it was never sprayed but when i got the info back from the sponsor it was written in the work order that n20 was removed and stock tune put back on.(before i purchased the car) nice guy huh? Fooled my *** thats for sure.
