Default possible oil pressure problem.....

I am getting a hot idle oil pressure of between 25 and 30 psi which seems "low" to me BUT by 1500RPM the pressure is at 40 and by 4000RPM it is at 60 psi and holding strong.

Any ideas? I started digging through old posts and noticed the little o-ring inside the pump deal. I didn't think to check (so can't be positive) I am pretty sure the o-ring stayed on the pickup tube when I pulled it from the oil pump.

The "low" oil pressure at idle says problem but the 60 psi WOT sounds right on. I'm using Moble 1 10W/30 and have duel remote oild filters and an oil cooler. Could the oil cooler and all the lines be adding enough resistance to drop the idle pressure?

Thanks

Chris

HEY CHRIS I DEAL WITH THESE ENGINES EVERYDAY AND THE READINGS YOURE GETTING ARENT ANYTHING I WOULD WORRY ABOUT, STOCK ENGINES COME OUT WITH 5-30 SO YOUR 10-30 WOULD ACTUALLY HELP IN THE PRESSURE DEPARTMENT, IN THEORY 2 FILTERS MAY CAUSE MORE OF A PRESSURE RESTRICTION THAN RUNNING ONLY ONE BUT I DONT THINK IT WOULD BE ENOUGH TO SEE A DIFFERENCE AT THE GAUGE. AS FAR AS THE ORING THING, THE TELL TAIL OF THAT IS USUALLY LONG TIME TO OIL PRESSURE ON START UP OR LOSS OF PRESSURE AT EXTENDED HIGH RPM, SO THAT SURE ISNT YOUR PROBLEM, IF IT WAS MINE I WOULD LEAVE IT BE, OF COURSE KEEP AN EYE ON IT AND IF IT GETS WORSE THEN PURSUE IT BUT UNTIL THE JUST HAVE FUN SMASHING THE HOPES AND DREAMS OF IMPORT AND FORD OWNERS!!!!!!!!!!!

25-30 psi at idle when warm is not bad, my '99 A4 when fully warm sits between 35-40 depending on how hard I drive it! it would drop down to 30 with the stock thermostat but with the 160* it reads a little higher with 10W-30 Amsoil.

Cool....thanks guys....I needed that reassurance...

I never have problems at high rpm and the oil pressure comes right up (no delay) when I crank it....

One thing I did notice is that usually my oil temps are between 160 and 180 but today I was really running it and the temp came up to 200. When that happened the pressures were about 5 psi higher. This leads me to believe that it is restrictions in the oil lines and oil cooler. As the oil heated up, it thinned out and was able to get through the lines easier.

Does this makes since?

My last fbody did that too. Pressure was high for years, and then dropped in half at idle. Still fine at WOT, but dealership insisted it was within spec.

Never really had problems with it so I think.
