mti x1
There is a guy selling a MTI X1 cam locally for a good price. He said that one of the lobes has some pitting but think it could be fixed. Can someone tell me if it could be and a rough estimate on cost to have it fixed. Or if just buying a new one would be simpler.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I bought my MS3 in box second hand. I wouldn't buy it unless you know the guy personally and how he treats the car. Even if it saves a couple bucks, you'll be spending more later.
I am going to pass on it. I don't want to run into an problems with it. I just thought I would ask to see if it was any easy fix or not. Not worth the potential problems that it could have.
Thanks for the responses.

I drive the **** out of it for what it's worth
Not trying to decieve or scam anybody for the $60 I was asking. There was some damage on both the lobe and lifter as to which part was to blame?? It could be reground or make a nice lamp or ??

Just for the record garrett, I didn't think you were scamming anyone. I don't know a whole lot about cams and I think it's a good deal. I wanted to find out if it could be fixed if taken to a shop. Hope no one gets the idea that it isn't any good. I know turbogarrett from a local forum and he is a great guy and wouldn't decieve anyone. I came on here to ask instead of BCM garrett because you never know what kind of answers you will get on BCM as you know how it is. I just wanted to find out what people thought because I pretty much daily drive my car in the summer and didn't want to get it and have it worked on and then not work for me.
That's cool, very true, you have a much better chance of getting good advice over here!
As far as buying used cams, as long as something did not go wrong with the valvetrain a hydraulic roller should last a very long time. Just get good pictures of the lobes and save yourself a 100 or more.
Here is a pic of the damage on mine.......

I wouldnt feel safe doing that. I dont think its worth saving a 100$ or more for. Just buy a new one. It would suck if once you got it in and somthing went wrong because of it. Good luck.

but i honestly wouldnt buy a used cam or anything used for the internals.
