I know a dude here that runs a cam only MS3, LTs, short duals, 4.10s (I think,) weight reduction, slicks, skinnies, FAST 90/90, and something like a 4400 stall, that's scratched 10s and is on the borderline of 9s on the spray.
Obviously going in the tens with a "cam only" you would have to look at other things such as your driveline and your suspension. You would want a rear end that could take the hard launch and a clutch that could take the abuse. You would then want the proper suspension setup for the 1/4

If you want a 10 second cam only car, you had better put the bitch on the atkins diet. Thats probly the most important thing.
I went 10.s with a g5x2 cam, headers, true duels with dumps, ls6 intake, 80mm bbk tb, 150 shot of nitrous, 4.11's, qa1's on all corners, sfc's, lca's and some other typical bolt ons. Really wasn't that hard to do with a cam only.

I went some 6.90's cam only but didnt get a 1/4 time cause they said the timers were messed up 
im pretty sure that would have been a 10 sec pass. I have a trex, th350, moser 12, weight reduction, fast 90/90, all boltons except ewp,28x10.50 slicks, all umi suspension.

Demonicbird00 went 10.99 at around 127mph with a custom ground cam on stock heads, with a fast 90/90. That was with a 6mt.
