Default hmmm

I was getting on the highway accelerating yesterday, don't remember how i got into this situation but got on the highway normal cruise to 5th gear. wanted to get around some traffic and hit 3rd, I might of missed 3rd a tad I dont' remember exactly, but once I did get into third the car seemed to buck and the low trac light came on even though i had the tcs off. So i'm guessing i damaged something.

Got a tick now, did a search, could be exhaust leak, or bent pushrods correct? The tick sounds more from the bottom of the car than the top and gets louder when i acclerate/rev up the car. Best thing is to remove valve covers and check?

Yes. I have a set of stock pushrods you can have for free. Swing by if you want them.

If you are going to do that you need to pull the heads to see how much damage you did. Obviously the valves floated and smacked the pistons...

Is it running rough or just the tick?. If you bent some valves it would run really rough or not run at all. You may have just bent a pushrod and with the situation it is the highest on the list. Do you know how high it reved?

The car runs normal, just have the tick now. easy to start, good oil pressure ( if that matters) and the tick gets louder as i rev/accelerate. And i'm not quite sure how high it reved.. I'm sorry.

If it were me, I would throw my set of stock pushrods in and see what it does and inspect the old ones. If the tick is gone, the car runs fine, and the rods are bent, then count your lucky stars for now, and it didn't cost you a nickel. Before you do any cam installs, prepare yourself for a set of heads and maybe pistons. Yank the heads and see what happened.

I wold not run it to much untill you sort it out. If you did bend one and it is in there wearing on the guide hole in the head it will be sending aluminum through the motor.

Depends how hard the valves hit the pistons. If you bent valves and or damaged/cracked pistons, or even bent connectings rods (not likely), you could be looking at basically a new motor......

i think its coming from the motor, we looked for exhaust leaks, plugged up one but tick didn't go away. hoping to go back tomorrow and look under the valve cover.

Dude it is seriously unlikely you bent a valve. It is possible but if the car feels the same don't sweat it. Take each step to solving the mystery but don't let that cloud your head. If you bent a valve it would be unlikely the car would run let alone if it did run it would be backfiring and be messed up. I just want to give you a glimmer of hope because I have read some stuff on here and had posts where people jump to conclusions on what is wrong thus making me feel like I am going to . I am not trying to knock quick silver but I have bent valves and the car wont run.

You can knock me all you want. I did not write the book. However, if I were intending on throwing a cam in a motor that already has spray, I would want to know the pistons were in good shape. He may not have bent a valve, but he left a mark in the piston if he bent a pushrod. If that creates a spot for a hot spot, that could compromise the integrity of the piston under serious load. If it were my car (cam and blower.....)I would be pulling the heads. Set of gaskets and head bolts are not that expensive.

Oh, and if you have ever seen any of my work, it speaks for itself. I am a picky pain in the you know what, but when I get done, it is right. Period. But it is all good! Who knows with this internet stuff!

Yeah the car stars fine, idles fine and everything. just now has the loud tick. thank you for being positive, Robert said the car has a slight miss right now. you can hear it coming from the rear of the car out the exhaust. going to plug up hp tuners. it might be a little rich. i'm trying to stay positive. thanks again for all your input. going to roberts tomorrow again and taking off the valve cover and seeing if anything is up there.
