Default A few mock up picks of the new build!

Well the motor just got back from the machine shop last week. Cylinders got bored/honed out, block cleaned and cam bearings installed. I was bored tonight so I put some stuff back together just because I'm tired of seeing my stuff apart and I'm getting anxious lol. I know it all has to come back off again but I liked seeing it together at least for a little bit.... Anyways, here's some pics I took...

Thanks man, it's not going to be a dyno queen. Big stalled A4. I am hoping for low 11's out of it N/A and either low 10's high 9's on the spray. I plan on spraying about a 200 shot or so on it. What I've bought so far is Diamond pistons recessed -2cc, Eagle H-Beam rods, MS4 camshaft, PRC 5.3 2.5 heads milled 59cc, Cometic .040 head gaskets, LS7 lifters, 42lb injectors, QTP LT's, TSP duals into Borla XR-1's and will be buying a Performabuilt with 4200 stall and a Direct port system from Nitrous Outlet. Not really sure what I've spent so far, I think I'd rather not know at this point. It would probably make me sick

Nice setup! I feel your pain. I've got a new 9" center section staring at me while I work on $ for a housing/axle package from Moser. Best of luck and keep us updated on your build!

Yeah, I'm just gonna wait til the stock rear goes. Some last, some don't but we're sure as hell gonna find out! We're gonna find out! Geovett, that setup should move pretty good. My motor only had about 59k on it but I planned on spraying the hell out of it so forged internals were a must. I'm still looking for a set of 42lb injectors for mine. They come up in the classified section here all the time for a pretty good price so I'm just waiting. Good call on the LS7 lifters, I got mine last week. For $120 it's pretty cheap insurance.

Machine shop called me last week and said my motor was done too.I asked about the balance and he said,"8 grams variation piston to piston".I wanted the motor back so bad,but made the right/tough choice and off to be balanced the internals go.End of March will be 1 year at the machine shop.Talk about exercising your patience!

Yeah, I'd say... but good call on waiting and not rushing it. No point in spending all this dime and not checking all your bases.

So, I was bored today and had nothing to do, so I decided that I'd paint the block to match the rest of the accents on the motor, what do you guys think? The water pump will also be painted black to match.

Hey,
What a nice looking engine. I'm in the process of doing the exact same build as you. I ordered diamond pistons -2cc, eagle rods, 2.5 5.3 heads milled 59cc, MS4 cam. The only thing i have missing from your setup in the fast 90. I went with the ls6, and p&p tb, Funds ran a little low. I can't wait to see what kind of numbers you put down. I have a m-6 so might be a little different numbers but let me know how everything works out. I have no idea what kind of numbers i am looking at. I was hoping 450rwhp.. Keep me posted.

Yeah, I'll be posting up as my build moves forward! The difference in drive trains will probably make up the difference in the Fast 90 though

Red bird everything is looking great. Isn't it fun when these project start out with the "I am just going to do this and then ok I will do that as well" I really like that block painted and I am thinking how the heads would look with the rough casting painted as well. I am glad to see things are coming along.

Hey,
Are you still waiting on the diamond pistons. I ordered mine last week and still waiting. I'm gonna try and get somethin else so my project can be finished up this weekend. What really sucks is there is no tuner in iowa so i'm gonna do alot of traveling to get my car tuned when i'm done
