You could always do a compression test...

I popped my dipstick last fall... I'm too lazy to do a compression test but no something isn't right.

Well like I said I did replace the PCV valve today, what else could I do to check the PCV system? I don't see why the rings would be shot, its not a high mileage motor, never been sprayed or had any other power adder on it, and has always had on time maintnance with full synthetics. My 98 has over 160K of HARD miles, and lots of spray through it and that motor is still fine.

Some cars do it, others don't. My blower motor did it regularly. Like Ryan said, it's blow-by from something. You can get a PCV catch can or an LS6 valley cover (because this also means you are injesting oil into your TB) or tie wrap it down if you want the cheap fix.

Yeah right....My bro's lt1 had breathers on it when he had the motor re-done and had shitty oil pressure, and the surface of the engine got so hot it started bubbling the powdercoating on his intake manifold, he put a pcv system back on it and runs way cooler and way better oil pressure. I'm assuming LS1's are the same way?
