Default How strong are LS1 stock internals?

Let's say I am looking to buy a modded car with 380rwhp. And I want to do more mods. Can the stock internals take all this power n/a? 450rwhp n/a? 500rwhp n/a? 550rwhp n/a? Thanks ahead for any help on this!

500 for most seem to be the critical point, some have lasted, others have not. A nuts on tune is critical and how you drive it will determine longevity.

Also with stock rod bolts I wouldnt be revving much past 6,500 rpms

So what do you think would be safe with a good tune for a daily driver? 450rwhp? 475rwhp? And how much would it cost to upgrade to forged internals? Install costs? Thanks for the help! Looking at buying a 427rwhp LS1 Z28 M6 from someone in my area and want to make sure I don't need to replace stuff now or for future modding.

You can get by with 450 RWHP no problem as a DD on stock internals. I think the stock rod bolts will be fine until you breech the 475 mark, even for 6500 RPM runs. But know that this is the limit, and that you would be right on it, so it may not hold up on a car that is not in good mechanical condition, or has not been properly maintained.

That is the other big thing. Keeping your car, and engine well maintained will make all the difference on if it will hold up with that RWHP on stock internals. If its been taken care of properly, and will continue to be taken care of properly, then I really think you'll be fine. But if you're not sure on the maintenance of it, or neglect to check everything out, and fix what needs to be fixed periodically, then you might be in trouble.

My best bud runs 420 rwhp cam only (230/236 grind), bolt ons, m6/10 bolt and it runs fine, will last a long time.

I am going on 30k with my cam and no problems. I am planning on adding about 75-100 more and see how long it will last, as I have a 6.0 longblock sitting next to me.

Expect the unexpected. If you want to play, you have to pay. I have put down 469rwhp on stock bottom end and should now be over 500rwhp. Mine is still alive with 126k miles.
